What is access like when boarding your vessel in Guernsey?Boarding is via a pedestrian ramp leading to a large floating pontoon where the boat is moored. To step on board, you’ll need to walk up two steps and over a relatively high threshold to get inside the boat. Please note that the ramp can be quite steep at times, which may be challenging for those with reduced mobility. If you need assistance, our crew will be happy to help.
-
What is dis/embarking like in Sark?Dis/embarking in Sark involves stepping from the boat onto a set of steps. The number of steps varies depending on the height of the tide, and they may be wet and/or slippery. Please note that there is no ramp at Sark Harbour, only steps. If you need assistance disembarking, our crew will be happy to provide limited help, but you should be able to disembark under your own steam.
-
I have reduced mobility, what can I expect in Sark?Sark is a unique, car-free island with unpaved roads. Transportation options include walking, cycling, and horse-drawn carriage rides. Disembarking the ferry in Sark involves steps from the boat to the quayside, the number of which varies depending on the tidal range at the time. Sark Harbour does not have a ramp, only steps. A tractor-drawn bus (known locally as the “toast rack”) transports passengers up Harbour Hill to the village and back again. One of the buses has been adapted to carry wheelchairs but we recommend contacting the Visitor Centre in advance to confirm availability. Given these factors, navigating Sark can be challenging for individuals with reduced mobility. It's advisable to plan ahead and arrange necessary assistance to ensure a comfortable visit.
